1. Utada Hikaru: Without a doubt my unequivocal favorite musician, japanese or otherwise.

2. BoA : I like pop music, she has a great voice, she’s pretty and is usually supplied with good material.

3. Angela Aki: Gottta love those piano players. She’s a great artist who writes her own stuff. strong voice. passionate.

4. Bonnie Pink : Another singer/songwriter whos sometimes sad, frequently poppy but constantly changing her style and trying new things.

5. Namie Amuro : Awakening the r&b/hip-hop loving fool inside of me, her new Album Play is the best of her career and the best album of it’s kind in Japan, this year.
